Johann Hörl grew up as one of seven children at the mountain farm "Streckau" in Leogang. Unfortunately, both of his parents died very early, so he took over his parents' farm at the age of 16. In addition to agricultural work, he converted the farm to a snack station and later to an inn, which was very well visited. After meeting his wife Maria, he decided to put into practice his big dream - a guest pension in the center of Leogang.
He acquired a plot of land and began building the "Hotel Leonhard".

To get a feeling with how much passion and dedication family Hörl is managing the hotel Leonhard for over 37 years, we have summarized the most important milestones here.
- 1979 Start of construction Hotel St. Leonhard
- 1981 Opening of the hotel at Christmas with 53 guest rooms
- 1988 Addition of an indoor pool & extension of 13 guest rooms
- 2004 Alteration of 15 rooms to suites / extension of the restaurant and addition of 7 guest rooms
- 2008 Expansion of the wellness area with indoor pool on the second floor and extension of 32 suites
- 2011 Redesign of the entrance area /hotel bar and equipment of a seminar room/modern ski cellar with heated locker per room
As is customary in a family business, the whole family helps and works together. In 2008 Johann Hörl hands over the management of the hotel to his daughter Maria. The name of the hotel is changed from "Hotel St. Leonhard" to "Hotel Leonhard".
The family business is thus run in the second generation and continues with "lots of love".

- 2016 Renovation of the junior suites "südseitig"
- 2017 Further renovation of 15 junior suites and redesign of the outdoor wellness area including new panorama sauna "Zirbenglück"
- Autumn 2017 Renovation of the fitness room and expansion of the children's playroom
- 2018 Expansion of the parking area with additional carport parking spaces
